Teaching the Teachers with Tech
One of my favorite things to do is to travel around to different schools and conferences and share my knowledge of integrating technology into the classroom. I always learn from and am challenged by my participants and spend so much to researching in preparation, that it always seems I knew nothing before I started. I love the ability to take what I know, develop it into a format that allows others to learn, research the areas I still need to grow and challenge myself to present it in a simple manner. You can take a subject and make it to broad for a new person to comprehend, or you can break it into small chunks and allow them to accept those chunks a piece at a time. Here are some reflections of those I have helped in the past and what they gleaned from our time together.
Recently, I attended the Beyond Code.org session presented by Kari and LeaAnne. LeaAnne took the time to help me understand each of the tools presented during the session. Additionally, she listened to my students' needs and helped me to determine which would be the correct technology for my classroom. I appreciated the time she spent with me plus her vast knowledge of classroom technology. ~Jennifer Zolifoff, Florida
Lea Anne was able to share with me a way that I could manage my classroom so that students had access to everything wherever they were. Her understanding of Learning Management programs allowed my students to flourish and me to relinquish the responsibility to them. ~Chelsea Gomen, Texas
LeaAnne taught me how to use iBook Author to publish my own e-textbook for my students to use during our study of Greek Mythology. The ability to prepare my course content in such a way that they had access to it interactively, changed my method of teaching. ~Heidi Morgan, Illinois
Lea Anne reminded me that laughing and learning go well together. ~Liz Waterston, Illinois
